View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 1st, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 376 overnight. The total number of patients surged to 3,526.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of 9 a.m. that day, 376 additional COVID-19 cases were reported compared to 4 p.m. the previous day. Among these, Daegu and Gyeongbuk saw a sharp increase of 359 cases.
By region, Daegu had the highest number with 333 cases, followed by Gyeongbuk (26), Seoul (5), Chungnam (5), Gyeongnam (3), Gyeonggi (2), Busan (1), and Chungbuk (1).

The number of patients released from quarantine also increased by 2. On that day, a female patient born in 1963 and a male patient born in 1944 were each released from quarantine. This brings the total number of recovered patients in the country to 30.
