Teenagers Driving Stolen Car Without License... Crashed into Patrol Car and Fled
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Teenagers who stole a passenger car, drove over 150 km at high speed, and rammed a patrol car before fleeing have been caught by the police.
The Gwangyang Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that they have booked three individuals, including A (16), on charges of special theft, obstruction of official duties, and violation of the Road Traffic Act, and have applied for arrest warrants.
A and others are accused of stealing a passenger car parked in an apartment parking lot in Buk-gu, Gwangju, at around 11:21 p.m. on the 26th.
They are also suspected of driving the stolen vehicle without a license for about 160 km to Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do.
While fleeing from a patrol car dispatched after the theft report, A and others rammed a patrol car on a road in Geumho-dong, Gwangyang-si, and escaped. It is reported that one police officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The police fired one blank round and three live rounds at the front wheels of the vehicle they were in, but failed to stop their escape.
A and others fled to Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam, then returned to Gwangyang-si, and were caught by the police about 24 hours after the crime.
