[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] On the 26th, five additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Sangju, Gyeongbuk.
On the previous day, a nurse in her 30s who commuted between Sangju City and Geungnak Village, a facility for severely disabled people in Yecheon County, was confirmed as a COVID-19 case.
Among the 88 people at Geungnak Village, including 52 residents with severe disabilities and 36 staff members, they have been isolated in separate facilities or are self-quarantined. Two of them showed fever symptoms, indicating a high possibility of a cluster infection.
With the additional cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sangju City increased from 4 to 9 as of the previous day.
Additional confirmed cases were also reported in Uiseong County.
On the 26th, Uiseong County, Gyeongbuk announced that one additional confirmed case was a 27-year-old male on active reserve duty.
It was confirmed that the confirmed case’s father had previously tested positive.
The man showed symptoms such as coughing on the 19th and visited the public health center’s screening clinic on the 23rd.
