United Future Party Daegu Member of Parliament: "Lockdown? What Kind of Government Is This?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] On the 25th, the Daegu-area members of the National Assembly from the United Future Party demanded an apology from the government regarding the phrase "maximum lockdown measures on Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK)" mentioned at the high-level party-government-office meeting.
They issued a joint statement that afternoon, saying, "Daegu is suffering as a whole due to the government's incompetence never before experienced," and criticized, "While expressing sympathy and offering help to China, the origin of the virus, what kind of government is this that intends to lock down TK?"
They continued, "The government is making excuses that this is not a regional movement ban, but this causes frustration and great wounds to the citizens of Daegu and residents of Gyeongbuk who are struggling to overcome the crisis," and urged, "Immediately withdraw the lockdown measures, offer a sincere apology, and promptly implement the administrative and financial support requests repeatedly made by TK."

They added, "Currently, TK is engulfed in tremendous chaos, with the entire city socioeconomically paralyzed," and criticized, "The government belatedly raised the infectious disease crisis alert to the serious level only in words, but there is no practical support at all." They further stated, "We cannot contain our anger at the government's act of trying to blame TK now after failing the initial quarantine by completely banning Chinese entry," and emphasized, "All Daegu National Assembly members of the United Future Party will fight together with a sense of mission to end the COVID-19 crisis."
