Ulsan City Accelerates Efforts to Secure Next Year's National Budget
‘2021 National Budget Securing Measures Report Meeting’ Held
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Ulsan City is stepping up efforts to secure the national budget for next year.
On the 21st at 10 a.m., Ulsan City held the "2021 National Budget Securing Strategy Report Meeting" chaired by Ulsan Mayor Song Cheol-ho in the city hall situation room.
The city is focusing on securing the national budget for the "7Bridge Project," which will lead Ulsan's future growth.
Large-scale social overhead capital (SOC) projects such as the ▲Outer Ring Road ▲Occupational Accident Specialized Public Hospital ▲National Road Construction between Nongso and Oedong, which took the first step last year as a preliminary feasibility exemption project under the national balanced development project, are expected to complete preliminary procedures within this year and accelerate in earnest from next year, signaling a green light for securing national funds.
Taking advantage of the designation as a hydrogen regulation-free special zone and selection as a hydrogen pilot city, the city will embark on discovering various projects for leaping to become the world's top hydrogen city by 2030, including ▲Establishment of a hydrogen and electric vehicle parts certification center ▲Designation of a dedicated hydrogen industry promotion agency ▲Establishment of a hydrogen-based equipment safety certification system.
At Taehwagang National Garden, being developed as Korea's premier ecological garden, plans include constructing a public parking lot and attracting the Garden Industry Expo to expand infrastructure and content befitting a national garden and to promote the garden industry.
Additionally, the city will strengthen competitiveness through technological advancement and business diversification of local key industries by ▲Building a future-type innovation automobile coating platform ▲Developing innovative technology for eco-friendly hybrid propulsion systems for small and medium-sized ships ▲Establishing an advanced convergence material technology support center.
Mayor Song Cheol-ho urged at the report meeting, "I hope all administrative capabilities will be concentrated on discovering new projects and securing the national budget for Ulsan's re-leap, centered on the newly appointed Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs."

The national budget for next year will go through the schedule of local governments applying to central ministries by the end of April, submission of budget proposals by central ministries to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance by the end of May, submission of the government budget proposal to the National Assembly by September 2, and final confirmation through National Assembly deliberation and resolution by December 2.
