Gangbuk-gu, Creating a Safe School Commute Environment in Child Protection Zones
Gangbuk-gu-World Vision-BHC Speed Warning System Sign Installation Agreement Signed: 13 Signs to Be Installed by June... Exploring Expansion of Yellow Traffic Lights, Protective Fences, and Solar LED Signs in Protection Zones
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) held a sponsorship agreement ceremony for the installation of speed warning system signboards on the 20th at the district office planning situation room.
The event was organized with the purpose of creating a safe school commute environment by installing signboards together with Gangbuk-gu, World Vision, and BHC.
The agreement ceremony was held in the order of greetings, signing the agreement, and commemorative photo with the attendance of Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Kim Soon-yi, Head of Domestic Business Division at World Vision, and Park Hyun-jong, Chairman of BHC.
According to the agreement, the three organizations will install a total of 13 speed warning system signboards within the local school zones. BHC and World Vision will each sponsor the project costs and implement the project, while the district will provide administrative support accordingly.
The district plans to select installation locations by March. It will prioritize areas with frequent traffic accidents and many complaints, reflecting residents' opinions. Construction is expected to be completed by the first half of the year, and the agreement period lasts until the signboards are installed.
Previously, the district established plans to replace LED in school zones and improve traffic safety facilities. The plans include changing from general signboards to solar-powered LEDs and expanding yellow traffic lights and protective fences.
Once installation is complete, it is expected that drivers will easily recognize the protection zones and it will also contribute to preventing pedestrians from jaywalking.
This project will proceed immediately once the budget requested from Seoul City is confirmed.
