Lee Hyung-seok Preliminary Candidate "Will Implement Policies for the Happiness of 20s and 30s Youth"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the National Assembly election in Buk-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, promised to implement policies that make the lives of the 20s and 30s youth happier together.
On the 20th, Lee released a press statement saying, “The problems of the 20s and 30s youth generation are no longer individual issues but social issues that must be resolved by society.”
He said, “Last month, the National Assembly passed the ‘Youth Basic Act,’ which establishes the rights and responsibilities of youth and the duties of the state and local governments toward youth, including basic matters related to the establishment, coordination, and support of youth policies,” adding, “Although social awareness of youth issues has begun to change, there is still a long way to go.”
He continued, “According to statistics, the annual outflow of youth population from Gwangju reaches about 5,300,” and pointed out, “Youth claim there are no jobs, while small and medium-sized enterprises complain of labor shortages.”
He also emphasized, “According to recent survey results, the average length of employment for youth is about 1 year and 6 months,” explaining, “This means there are few jobs that satisfy youth, and although there are many jobs in small and medium-sized enterprises, there are no places where youth want to go.”
Lee said, “These days, youth place the highest importance on achievement, fulfillment, and leisure in their work,” and pointed out, “The fundamental problem is that current jobs do not properly reflect these characteristics of youth.”
