Jo Won-jin and Kim Moon-soo "Promote Integration of Uri Party and Liberty Unification Party"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] The Our Republican Party and the Liberty Unification Party are pushing for a merger. On the 20th, Cho Won-jin, leader of the Our Republican Party, and Kim Moon-soo, leader of the Liberty Unification Party, held a press conference at the National Assembly Press Hall and announced, "We have reached a fundamental agreement to unite our forces."
The two party leaders met on the 19th and decided on this direction. They stated, "We have agreed to join forces to oust the Moon Jae-in administration, protect the liberal democratic system, and uncover the truth behind the impeachment," adding, "We will form a joint integration committee with three members from each party to proceed with the unification process."
As the first step of the integration, they will participate together and deliver speeches at the National Rally for Moon Jae-in’s Resignation on the 22nd. Leader Cho said, "This is the unification of the Taegeukgi forces and the unification of the free right-wing," and added, "Although we have had various talks with the United Future Party, we will take the path of unification that shows what true free right-wing unification means."
They announced plans to field candidates in all 253 constituencies nationwide. Currently, the Our Republican Party has nearly 40 candidates registered, while the Liberty Unification Party has fewer than 10.
