Daegu City Reports 23 New COVID-19 Cases...Including 1 Art Academy Teacher and 1 Daycare Teacher Each
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Twenty-three new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Daegu.
According to the Daegu Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 20th, the number of confirmed cases in Daegu increased by 23 in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 34 as of 9 a.m. on February 20.
Among the confirmed cases, one was a teacher at an art academy and one was a teacher at a daycare center. Although there are only seven students at the art academy, the daycare center has 20 teachers and 150 students, raising concerns about further transmission.
Accordingly, Daegu city has placed the staff working at the art academy and daycare center under self-quarantine and notified the parents of the students at these facilities around 7 a.m. on the same day. Additionally, the facilities were immediately closed, and after completing the epidemiological investigation, disinfection and quarantine work will be carried out on the same day.
The ages of the confirmed cases ranged from their 20s to their 70s, and the cases were reported throughout Daegu, including 12 in Nam-gu and 7 in Dalseo-gu.

Daegu city stated, "We will disclose additional information about the confirmed cases as soon as the epidemiological investigation is completed."
