Healing Island Wando, Unique Trekking Courses Established in 12 Eup and Myeon Areas

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 19th that it held a kickoff meeting for a service project to develop unique trekking courses on each island in Wando, where the sea, forest, and islands harmonize, on the 18th.
The project section covers approximately 300 km of forest trails and forest roads within Wando-gun, with a total budget of 1.8 billion KRW, and will be carried out in phases over three years until 2022.
The first phase includes Wando, Gunoe, Shinji, Gogeum, and Yaksan; the second phase covers Geumil, Geumdang, Saengil, and Cheongsan areas; and the third phase will focus on Nohwa, Soan, and Bogil areas.
In particular, the plan is to develop courses centered around Wando Arboretum, Shinji Myeongsasimni Beach, and Yaksan Healing Forest, aiming to become a hub for the healing industry that encompasses forest healing and marine healing by utilizing forest and marine resources to promote health.
Additionally, trekking courses representing each town and township will be selected based on existing forest trails and forest roads, with trail maintenance and the development of an application to provide to visitors.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol of Wando-gun said, “Through the Wando Island Forest Trail Trekking Project, we will provide tourists visiting Wando with a safe and pleasant hiking environment, enhancing the image of clean Wando-gun.” He added, “As interest in health increases, demand for forest welfare is also rising, and we will strive to create natural and eco-friendly trekking courses unique to Wando that cannot be seen in other regions.”
