Professor Yuminsoo Yoo of KAIST Receives Facebook Faculty Research Award
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] KAIST announced on the 19th that Professor Minsoo Yoo of the School of Electrical Engineering has been selected as a recipient of the Facebook Faculty Research Award.
The Faculty Research Award aims to discover research topics that contribute to the development and commercialization of next-generation computing systems to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Facebook received research proposal requests from 167 professors at 100 universities across 26 countries worldwide and selected 10 awardees among them.
In particular, Professor Yoo was the only recipient from the Asian region to be named on the awardee list and will receive $50,000 in research funding, KAIST stated.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held this fall at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park during the AI Systems Faculty Summit.

Meanwhile, Professor Yoo joined NVIDIA headquarters in the United States, an AI computing technology company, in 2014 and has led various hardware and software system research for AI computing acceleration. Since 2018, he has been serving at KAIST’s School of Electrical Engineering.
