Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha is responding to questions from lawmakers at the plenary meeting of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee on the 18th.
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha stated on the 18th that the proposal for tactical nuclear sharing between South Korea and the United States is "not under consideration."
Minister Kang made this remark during a plenary session of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee in response to Rep. Won Yoo-chul of the United Future Party's suggestion regarding tactical nuclear sharing between South Korea and the U.S., saying, "The basic position of our government is denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

Rep. Won argued regarding the Special Measures Agreement (SMA) on defense cost-sharing between South Korea and the U.S., "The U.S. side is demanding a substantial amount and conducting very unreasonable negotiations," adding, "In that case, we should accept some of the U.S. defense cost demands but propose NATO-style nuclear sharing until the North Korean nuclear issue is completely resolved."
