On the 13th, the Civil Affairs Judicial Police Unit confirmed the delivery of 20,000 defective KF94 masks at a Chinese shipping logistics company located in Jung-gu, Seoul. These masks were packaged in bulk without manufacturer information or labeling, wrapped in yellow sacks and cardboard boxes in units of 10 in plastic bags, and were urgently confiscated in full. Health masks, classified as quasi-drugs, are subject to imprisonment or fines if their containers or packaging are defective or if the packaging does not include the product name, manufacturing number, expiration date, and ingredient names.
Additionally, two distribution and sales companies were identified and are under investigation for deleting expiration dates or replacing stickers to sell defective products that had passed their expiration dates or posed health and hygiene risks. Furthermore, 103 cases of false or exaggerated advertising were detected, and corrective actions will be requested from the relevant local governments.
