Min Hyung-bae Preliminary Candidate Announces Pledge to 'Make Gwangju More Confident'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Min Hyung-bae, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the Gwangsan-gu (Eul) National Assembly election in Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced regional pledges for Gwangju to create a ‘More Confident Gwangju.’
On the 17th, Min stated in a press release, “We will pass on future industries such as artificial intelligence, eco-friendly vehicles, renewable energy, and social economy to the descendants of Gwangju,” adding, “We will realize the dream of Gwangju as a production and industrial city.”
The pledges announced by Min include ▲Gwangju as the center of South Korea’s artificial intelligence (AI) industry ▲Successful promotion of the eco-friendly automobile industry based on the ‘Gwangju-type job’ model ▲Support for the renewable energy industry linked with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City ▲Attracting a ‘Social Economy Innovation Town’ in Gwangju to support village enterprises and cooperatives ▲Maximizing the attraction of public institutions and affiliated companies relocating in the second phase to Gwangju.
He also emphasized, “Gwangju will take the lead in punishing forces that deny the truth of the May 18 Democratic Uprising and make outrageous remarks, and overcoming the root cause, the division system,” adding, “We will fully practice and support the Gwangju spirit through extending the investigation period by revising the May 18 Special Act, enacting the ‘Special Act on Punishment for Historical Distortion,’ and attracting the ‘Gwangju-type Unification+ Center’ to serve as the control tower for nationwide unification centers.”
