Minister Jinyoung "Doing Our Best for Rescue"... 24 Casualties in Suncheon-Wanju Samae2 Tunnel Fire
[Asia Economy Reporter Osangdo] Jin Young, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, urged on the afternoon of the 17th to "do their best to rescue lives" regarding the multiple vehicle collision accident that occurred at the Samae2 Tunnel on the Suncheon-Wanju Expressway in Jeonbuk.
After receiving a report on the situation at the situation inspection meeting of related agencies held in Sejong City that day, Minister Jin instructed, "Do your best to rescue the lives of drivers and passengers inside the tunnel and quickly extinguish the fire."
Earlier that day, at around 12:23 PM, a multiple collision accident occurred inside the Samae2 Tunnel on the Suncheon-Wanju Expressway heading northbound in Samae-myeon, Namwon-si, Jeonbuk.
According to the fire authorities, a fire broke out in a tanker lorry vehicle, and the area near the tunnel is currently under complete control. The fire authorities issued Response Level 1 at 12:58 PM and Response Level 2 at 1:44 PM.
