Two Earthquakes Occur Within 5 Minutes in Hualien, Taiwan
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] On the afternoon of the 15th, two earthquakes measuring 5.4 and 4.7 in magnitude occurred at 5-minute intervals in Hualien, eastern Taiwan.
The China Earthquake Networks Center reported that around 7:00 PM (local time) on the same day, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck near Hualien County, Taiwan (23.95°N, 121.49°E).
Then, around 7:05 PM, another earthquake measuring 4.7 in magnitude occurred at a similar location (23.86°N, 121.53°E). Both earthquakes had a focal depth of 10 km.

In Hualien, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred last April at 24.13°N, 121.52°E, and in February 2018, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake resulted in 17 deaths.
