First Lady Kim Jung-sook Encourages Disabled Sports Festival Athletes with Letter: "Already Winners in the Game of Life"
[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] Kim Jung-sook, wife of President Moon Jae-in, sent a letter of encouragement and support on the 14th to disabled athletes participating in the 17th National Winter Sports Festival for the Disabled.
Yoon Jae-kwan, deputy spokesperson of the Blue House, said in a written briefing that "this event is being held from the 11th to the 14th in Gangneung, Chuncheon, and Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the opening ceremony could not be held, and the closing ceremony was also canceled," adding, "Mrs. Kim sent the letter to convey warm encouragement and support to the disabled athletes who are doing their best in the competition despite the difficult situation where external attention is hard to come by."
In her letter, Mrs. Kim expressed special gratitude to the disabled athletes, saying, "You, who are nurturing and holding the seeds of hope even in difficult times, are already winners in the game of life," and "Thank you for becoming a 'spring of hope' for all of us."
