At an expanded executive meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 14th, Floor Leader Lee said, "Yesterday, the Election Commission allowed the registration of the Mirae Hangukdang. I feel devastated," adding, "I am worried that the worst situation where democracy is mocked and regresses might occur."
He criticized, "The Liberty Korea Party is only thinking about embezzling taxpayers' money and government subsidies by expelling non-running lawmakers and sending them to a fake party through a disguised relocation method," and said, "The Election Commission's decision will remain a dark chapter in Korean political history." He added, "It is unfortunate that the Election Commission is echoing the Liberty Korea Party's atrocities," and strongly demanded, "We strongly urge the Election Commission to reconsider its decision."
Regarding the Liberty Korea Party's ongoing calls for the president's impeachment, Floor Leader Lee said, "They are demanding impeachment based on the prosecution's one-sided claims," and emphasized, "President Moon Jae-in's silence is arrogantly interpreted as tacit approval by Liberty Korea Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn. We request the Liberty Korea Party to exercise restraint."
Concerning the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) situation, he said, "No new confirmed cases are emerging, and people are being released from quarantine and recovering," adding, "If quarantine measures continue, COVID-19 can be ended early."
