Ulsan City Supports Masks for Disaster-Vulnerable Groups
Preventing the Spread of COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Ulsan City announced on the 14th that it will prioritize providing masks to disaster-vulnerable groups to prevent and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The support targets approximately 90,000 disaster-vulnerable individuals, and the support items include masks and hand sanitizers (for public transportation).
Currently, due to a shortage in the supply of personal hygiene items such as masks, disaster-vulnerable groups including the elderly and disabled are finding it difficult to purchase masks themselves, making COVID-19 prevention challenging.
Ulsan City plans to sequentially purchase personal hygiene items such as masks as soon as supplies are secured and prioritize distribution to disaster-vulnerable groups. Since it is difficult to secure the entire required quantity in a short period and to minimize supply shortages caused by bulk purchases, various efforts are being made, including pre-ordering from suppliers capable of providing personal hygiene products.
Although masks must be prioritized for disaster-vulnerable groups due to the shortage, once supply stabilizes, the city plans to consider providing masks to public facilities frequently used by citizens, such as libraries and museums.
Along with this, Ulsan City plans to purchase and place hand sanitizers on buses first to prevent infections and alleviate anxiety among public transportation users. Support for other public transportation will be considered later.
