Foxconn Aims for 50% Operating Rate by the End of This Month
Partial Resumption of Production at Zhengzhou and Shenzhen Factories
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Foxconn, Apple's largest contract manufacturer, aims to resume half of its production volume in China by the end of this month, according to major foreign media reports on the 12th.
Quoting an anonymous source, the foreign media reported, "Liu Yongwei, Foxconn's semiconductor business director, hopes that production volume in China can reach 50% by the end of February."
Earlier, Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory received approval from authorities to resume production on the 11th and began operations on the same day. However, only 16,000 workers, accounting for 10% of the total workforce, have returned so far.
The Foxconn Zhengzhou factory is a key base producing the iPhone 11 series and the low-cost iPhone expected to be released in March.
Additionally, the Foxconn factory located in southern Shenzhen also received partial approval to resume production on the 11th. This factory has similarly seen only about 20,000 workers return, representing roughly 10% of its total workforce.
