[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Sang-do] A graduate school for nurturing digital finance talents will be established in Yeouido, Seoul. The graduate school, which will open in September, will produce about 80 master's degree graduates annually.
On the 12th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced plans to cultivate financial professionals in cooperation with the Financial Services Commission. To this end, Seoul and the Financial Services Commission will provide 19 billion KRW in support over four years.
According to Seoul, this financial graduate school will offer both a 3-4 semester master's degree program and a non-degree program lasting less than six months. The annual intake will be 80 students for the master's program and 160 for the non-degree program.
The education targets include current financial sector employees, fintech workers, and job seekers preparing for employment in the financial sector. Lectures will cover theory and practice in big data, cloud computing, blockchain, and more. The city plans to provide startup support programs and startup space residency for students who wish to start a business after completing the education.
The city will accept applications from October 4 to 6 to select an institution to operate the financial graduate school. An open briefing session will be held on the 14th at the Press Center. Universities, research institutions, and financial-related organizations are eligible to apply.
