The Democratic Party of Korea's Special Committee on Aerospace Industry Innovation Launches in Sacheon
Full-Scale Launch for Innovation and Development in the Aerospace Industry
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The Democratic Party's Special Committee on Aerospace Industry Innovation held its launching ceremony on the 11th at the main conference room of the Workers' Welfare Center in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam.
The launching ceremony was held with about 50 attendees, including event officials and journalists, refraining from large-scale events to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The first part included the awarding of appointment letters and the presentation of policies and visions for the aviation industry.
In the second part, a roundtable discussion was held where participants discussed policies for the development of the aviation industry.
Chairman Hwang In-seong presented a vision to create a virtuous cycle of job creation by achieving the national vision for the aerospace industry early and to revitalize the regional economy.
He also proposed five core strategies to achieve this vision. First, diversification and expansion of market size through securing public demand, overseas expansion, and creation of new services; second, technological and policy support to secure market competitiveness of industrial entities; third, expansion of MRO business, active attraction of space-related partner companies, and support for venture startups; fourth, formation of a consultative body with local stakeholders to promote aerospace industry development; and finally, establishment of a mutual growth fund for the aerospace industry.

The Democratic Party's Special Committee on Aerospace Industry Innovation is composed of 24 members, including Chairman Hwang In-seong as a preliminary candidate, Vice Chairmen Park Hong-geun (Member of the National Assembly, Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee), Kim Jeong-ho (Member of the National Assembly, Planning and Finance Committee), Kim Seong-hwan (Party Representative Secretary, Industry, Trade, Small and Medium Venture Business Committee), Park No-seon (former Vice President of KAI), Cha Sang-don (former Chief of Sacheon Police Station), and Wang Chi-hwan (former Vice Principal of the Air Force Technical School), as well as 20 advisors including experts and officials such as Professor Song Won-geun from Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology.
