Daejeon City Creates 30,000 Jobs for Employment-Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 12th that it will create about 30,000 social service and welfare jobs for local employment-vulnerable groups.
The jobs will be created through 29 projects in areas such as the elderly, disabled, and low-income groups, with a total budget of 240.2 billion KRW allocated for these projects.
First, the city plans to create over 20,000 jobs through six projects in the elderly sector. The projects include ▲Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project (18,830 jobs) ▲Customized Elderly Care Service Project (936 jobs) ▲Dream Tree Guardian Project (615 jobs) ▲Senior Club Operation (30 jobs) ▲Senior Dining Hall Meal Assistant Operation (77 jobs), with a total budget of 89.1 billion KRW allocated for these projects.
In the disabled sector, projects such as ▲Severe Disability Activity Assistance Project (2,700 jobs) ▲Operation of Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities including Rainbow Welfare Factory (650 jobs) ▲Disabled Welfare Job Project (450 jobs) ▲Visual Impairment Massage Dispatch Project (80 jobs) ▲Disabled Family Care Support (80 jobs) will be promoted, with a budget of 132.7 billion KRW expected to be invested.
For low-income groups such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty class, nine projects including ▲Self-Support Work Project (2,213 jobs) ▲Community Social Service Investment Project (1,500 jobs) ▲Social Welfare Facility Substitute Workforce Support Project (35 jobs) ▲Dementia Relief Center Operation (85 jobs) ▲Community Integrated Health Promotion Project (33 jobs) will receive a total budget of 40.4 billion KRW.

Lee Kang-hyuk, Director of the City’s Health and Welfare Bureau, said, “Jobs are an essential requirement for stable living for the elderly, disabled, and low-income groups,” and added, “The city will actively promote job creation policies to improve their quality of life through continuous income generation and support for independent living.”
