Lemon Ahead of KOSDAQ Listing on the 28th: "Applying Nano Membrane, Differentiating Sanitary Pads and Masks"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] "The nano membrane, the main production material of Lemon, is a next-generation material gaining attention and is being utilized in various fields worldwide, but there is a lack of technology for mass production. However, Lemon possesses the technological capability to mass-produce nano membranes, which is considered a core competitive advantage."
Kim Hyo-gyu, CEO of Lemon, held a press conference in Yeouido on the 11th and said, "Through our own brand 'Air Queen,' we are producing a variety of products ranging from quarantine masks, which have recently become a hot topic, to sanitary pads."
Founded in 2012, Lemon's main business is manufacturing high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding components and heat dissipation sheets using nanotechnology, as well as nano membrane materials with ultra-fine pores. The nano membrane materials produced by Lemon are applied to various products such as clothing, outdoor gear, household goods, hygiene products, sports equipment, medical supplies, and electronic devices. Although nano membranes were developed over 80 years ago, Lemon is the only company in the world capable of mass production, according to the company.
For EMI shielding components and heat dissipation sheets, they are currently applied to Samsung Electronics' premium S series, Note series, and 5G phones. EMI shielding components include conductive fabrics, conductive adhesive tapes, and EMI shield cans, while 5G components include 5G PCB SMDs.
CEO Kim explained, "EMI shielding components, heat dissipation sheets, and 5G parts utilizing nano materials are optimized for the increasingly complex smartphone structures," adding, "We plan to expand not only into premium lines such as the S series and Note series but also into entry-level lines." He continued, "Since mass production of nano membranes, which Lemon focuses on, is difficult, all areas are considered blue oceans. Although electrospinning technology has existed for over 80 years, we are the only ones who have succeeded in mass production."
The diameter of the nano fibers that Lemon mainly produces is 100 to 200 nm, about 1/500th the thickness of a human hair. The pore size of membranes made from such nano fibers is approximately 300 nm, allowing water vapor to pass through but blocking the penetration of water droplets, red blood cells, and common bacteria, making it a dream material in advanced industries applicable to various fields.
Currently, Lemon's nano membranes are exclusively supplied to the global outdoor brand The North Face. They are used in The North Face's 'Futurelight' line released last year and are gaining attention as a material that can replace existing membrane materials.
Additionally, Lemon develops and sells quarantine masks, female hygiene products, and sanitary pads made from nano membrane materials through its own brand 'Air Queen.'
CEO Kim said, "We exclusively supply nano material membranes with excellent breathability and waterproofness to The North Face's Futurelight line," adding, "The North Face announced an additional $20 million investment in advertising for the Futurelight line, which shows how popular nano membrane materials are overseas."
In particular, mask sales, which have experienced shortages due to the recent novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia), are expected to exceed this year's target. While the initial sales target for masks this year was set at 300 million KRW, it is forecasted to exceed 5 billion KRW. The company explained that pre-orders have surpassed 12 million units, and if all these orders are fulfilled, total sales will reach 9.6 billion KRW.
A Lemon official stated, "Our monthly supply capacity is 4 million units, and we are currently operating a 24-hour emergency system to respond."
Lemon's sales target for this year is 54 billion KRW for EMI and 44 billion KRW for nano materials, totaling 98 billion KRW. Operating profit is projected at 11 billion KRW, and net profit at 10 billion KRW.
