Choi Ki-young: "We Will Systematically Support the Entire Process of Research and Development Achievements"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Choi Ki-young, Minister of Science and ICT (photo), held a meeting of the 'Public Research Performance Dissemination Strategy Council' on the 11th and discussed policy directions for the utilization and dissemination of public research outcomes with experts from industry, academia, and research institutes.
At the meeting, Minister Choi stated, "The year 2020 marks an era of 24 trillion won in R&D budgets, raising expectations for the outcomes of public research," and emphasized, "From now on, we will systematically support the entire process from research and development to performance dissemination by discovering promising technologies from the R&D planning stage, enhancing technology maturity, supporting business model development and overseas expansion, thereby responding to the public's expectations for science and technology with tangible results."

Accordingly, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to gather expert opinions through this council, form working groups for four subcommittees (demand-centered, supply-centered, technology brokerage, infrastructure), and shift the policy focus from supply-centered to demand-centered to effectively disseminate research outcomes. They will also derive tasks to connect the fragmented support system from the demand perspective.
