Kumho Tire Wins Main Prize at Germany's iF Design Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Kumho Tire announced on the 11th that two of its products won the main prize in the transportation category at the German iF Design Award 2020.
Kumho Tire's award-winning products are the high-performance tire for premium sedans, 'Majesty 9 Solus TA91' and 'Wintercraft Wi51.'
The iF Design Award is an international design award hosted by the International Forum Design in Germany and is called the Academy Award in the design field. Celebrating its 67th year this year, it is considered one of the world's top three design awards along with the Red Dot Design Award and the IDEA Design Award.
'Majesty 9' is the successor to Majesty Solus, a high-performance premium product that enhances ride comfort and quietness compared to the previous model. This product also improves wear performance and braking power on snowy roads, enhancing safety and durability. It reduces noise by applying an optimal pattern block arrangement and 'Sound Harmony Technology.'
Additionally, the sidewall of the tire features a hologram decoration that changes appearance depending on the angle of light, and the tread combines a regular geometric pattern with a modern curved design to create a sophisticated look.
'Wintercraft Wi51' is a European-style winter tire that delivers excellent performance on snowy and icy roads.
Wi51 improves traction and braking performance on snowy and icy roads through the latest compound technology. Reflecting European market trends, it features an optimized directional pattern design and a new structural design to enhance performance on icy and snowy roads. For safety during high-speed driving, a high-rigidity center rib design is applied, and the new structural design improves the contact length and width at the center.
