Boseong-gun Initiates Step-by-Step Strategy to Secure National Funding for Next Year
Job Creation and Regional Economic Revitalization through Securing Funding for Community-Based Issues and New Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it held a national budget securing strategy meeting for next year and has started efforts to secure new projects.
With the launch of the 7th local government administration, a total of 61 projects worth 592.5 billion KRW, including policy projects leading the future development of Boseong from a macro perspective and future food source projects, were selected, with 49 projects designated as the focus for national budget projects in March, and plans to carry out all-out activities.
On the 7th of last month, the county requested the Jeollanam-do provincial government to prioritize reflecting six projects worth 163 billion KRW in the financial proposal, including the Honam Uibyeong History Park construction project worth 48 billion KRW and the Deukryang Bay Clean Fishing Ground Regeneration Project worth 36 billion KRW.
They also requested that the 49 projects be reflected in the 2021 Jeollanam-do financial plan, and from March, they plan to frequently visit Jeollanam-do and central government ministries to explain the feasibility logic of the projects and focus all administrative power to ensure these projects are included in the central government departments.
Major projects include the construction of the National Forest Technology Education Institute in the agriculture, forestry, and livestock sector worth 40 billion KRW, creation of eco-friendly scenic forests for resident avoidance facilities worth 6 billion KRW, construction of the Honam Marine Future Science Museum worth 40 billion KRW, establishment of a specialized kiwi export complex in Boseong-gun worth 5 billion KRW, and the establishment of a high-quality sprout production and distribution project complex worth 12 billion KRW.
In the cultural tourism sector, projects include the construction of the Yulpo Beach Rail Bike worth 10 billion KRW and the modern historical cultural space regeneration activation project worth 20 billion KRW. For life-oriented SOC projects, there is the Boseong Family Center construction project worth 3 billion KRW; in the safety sector, the Boseong sewage treatment plant expansion project worth 20 billion KRW, urban recycled water utilization system construction worth 3 billion KRW, small stream maintenance worth 4 billion KRW, and Boseong urban regeneration worth 34 billion KRW.
The county appointed the head of the National Regional Competitiveness Research Institute as an advisory committee member to develop the feasibility and logic of these projects and to receive advice from project discovery to the method of requesting national budget inclusion to ensure these projects are reflected in the Jeollanam-do financial plan.

Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “2021, the third year of the 7th local government administration, is the time to implement the local financial plan,” and urged, “All staff, led by the deputy mayor, should feel a sense of responsibility and do their best to ensure the government budget reflects these projects to improve the quality of life of residents and invigorate the local economy.”
