'SM6' Looks More Luxurious but Cheaper Now
Despite Applying the 2020 'Premiere', Prices of Some Trims Decrease
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] It is common to think that higher quality means higher price. To improve quality, good raw materials and the seller's effort and hard work must accompany, so prices inevitably rise. However, brands that break this formula are emerging one after another, attracting consumers' attention.
The '2020 SM6' (photo), launched by Renault Samsung Motors in July last year, is a representative product. This car improved its marketability by applying the Premiere trim but lowered the price of some trims. The exterior design of the SM6 implements a sophisticated image with stylish colors. 'Amethyst Black,' which adds black to 'Amethyst,' meaning amethyst, creates a mysterious atmosphere, while 'Bordeaux Red' adds a premium feel with a luxurious yet intense red color. Additionally, it enhances emotional quality by applying a dedicated logo, exclusive wheels shaped like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, and Nappa leather seats.
The 2020 SM6 added the S-Look package (sporty package) option to existing trims. The SM6 S-Look applies eight systems across five driving modes. When selecting sport mode, the ambient light changes to red, the steering wheel becomes heavier, the powertrain shifts to performance-oriented, and active damping control automatically adjusts for road grip. The engine sound is also adjusted according to the driving mode. The SM6 Premiere 2.0 GDe, with significantly improved quality and service, is priced at 32.94 million KRW, and the 1.6 TCe at 34.31 million KRW.
