[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has ordered an extension of the ongoing on-site investigation at Ajou University Hospital to clearly clarify suspicions such as interference with patient treatment at the Severe Trauma Center (Gyeonggi Southern Regional Trauma Center).
Accordingly, the Gyeonggi Province investigation team has decided to extend the investigation of the Gyeonggi Southern Regional Trauma Center until the 10th.
The province has been conducting an on-site investigation since the 5th to verify the facts regarding various suspicions against Ajou University Hospital, including interference with treatment, refusal of treatment, and manipulation of medical records at the Gyeonggi Southern Regional Trauma Center.
Through this extension of the on-site investigation, the province plans to conduct a detailed examination of the suspicions raised in the media and thoroughly review whether there are any additional illegal activities.
Previously, the media raised suspicions surrounding Ajou University Hospital and the Gyeonggi Southern Regional Trauma Center, including the temporary closure (bypass) of the trauma center due to organized interference with trauma patient treatment by Ajou University Hospital, refusal to treat emergency patients at that time, unauthorized use of the trauma-dedicated operating room at Ajou University Hospital, and manipulation of medical records.
