Seoul Seocho-gu Umyeon-dong Talent Development Center to Serve as New Coronavirus Quarantine Facility Starting from the 8th
Selective Isolation Among Self-Quarantined Individuals
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] As the number of infections of the novel coronavirus disease (Wuhan pneumonia) spreads, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 7th that it will admit vulnerable groups among those under self-quarantine who require facility protection to the dormitory within the Seoul Human Resources Development Institute.
The city plans to use the dormitory at the Human Resources Development Institute in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, as a quarantine facility starting from the 8th. If there are no symptoms for up to 14 days, the individual will be allowed to return home. If any abnormalities occur, they will be transferred to a hospital and quarantined.
The target individuals are those under self-quarantine who have difficulty moving alone, have no caregiver, or are at risk of transmitting the infection among family members.
The admission procedure involves the head of the health center in each autonomous district making a primary decision on whether facility quarantine is necessary for the self-quarantined person after hearing their opinion, reporting to the city, and then the city making the final decision.
Medical professionals such as doctors and nurses will be stationed at the quarantine facility, and the movement paths between the general public and quarantined individuals will be completely blocked to fundamentally prevent the spread of infection. Monitoring will also be conducted 24 hours a day.
