On the 3rd, Democratic Party preliminary candidates Bae Yong-tae and Baek Jae-wook announced a joint declaration at the Jeonnam Provincial Council briefing room.

On the 3rd, the two pre-candidates held a joint press conference at the Jeonnam Provincial Council briefing room, stating, "Declarations of support for Assemblyman Seo Sam-seok, who has not even registered as a pre-candidate, undermine a fair intra-party primary election culture," and pointed out, "The declarations of support by 24 Democratic Party-affiliated provincial and county councilors from Yeongam, Muan, and Shinan, who are in positions that could influence the party primary, are unfair."
The two pre-candidates lamented, "In the primary process, challengers are behind in every aspect such as information compared to candidates with vested interests," adding, "It is like starting a 100-meter dash 50 meters behind."
Regarding the possibility of unification between the two candidates, they expressed cautious positions.
Pre-candidate Baek Jae-wook said, "If the residents wish, I am open to considering it," while pre-candidate Bae Yong-tae stated, "If it is necessary for regional development and can improve the quality of life of local residents, we can discuss it."
