Lee Chan-hee, President of the Korean Bar Association, Reported to the Prosecutors
Suspicion of Publishing a Personal Collection of Sayings with Seoul Bar Association Funds
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 3rd, Lee Chan-hee, President of the Korean Bar Association, was reported to the prosecution on charges of publishing a personal collection of sayings using funds from the Seoul Bar Association.
Yoon Sung-chul, auditor of the Seoul Bar Association, and two others reported President Lee, Vice President Yeom Yong-pyo, and Public Relations Director Yang So-young to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the same day for embezzlement. It is alleged that in November 2018, while serving as the president of the Seoul Bar Association, President Lee embezzled 5.9 million KRW of public funds by publishing his personal collection of sayings with Seoul Bar Association funds. There are also suspicions that after conspiring to use the personal collection of sayings for the Korean Bar Association presidential election, Vice President Yeom and Public Relations Director Yang were appointed following President Lee's actual election victory.
