New Coronavirus Cases Exceed 11,000... Death Toll Reaches 258
[Asia Economy Reporter Koh Hyung-kwang] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia), which is spreading worldwide, has surpassed 11,000. The death toll has also reached 258.
AFP news agency reported on the 1st, citing an announcement from the Hubei (湖北) Provincial Health Authority in China, that 1,347 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection have been confirmed. As a result, the total number of patients infected with the novel coronavirus across China has exceeded 11,000.
Earlier, the Hubei Provincial authorities, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus, announced that the number of deaths due to Wuhan pneumonia in Hubei Province increased by 45, bringing the total to 249. The authorities also added that the number of confirmed cases increased by 1,347 in one day, totaling 7,153.
As of midnight on the 1st, the Hubei authorities confirmed 249 deaths and 7,153 confirmed cases.
AFP reported that combining the deaths and confirmed cases across China, the total death toll is 258 and the total confirmed cases are 11,278.
The novel coronavirus is spreading worldwide, with confirmed cases first identified in countries such as Spain. AFP counted that as of the 1st, the novel coronavirus has spread to 26 countries worldwide.

Meanwhile, as the novel coronavirus rapidly spreads, countries including the United States have issued travel bans, prohibiting their citizens from visiting China, and airlines around the world are successively suspending flights to China.
