Candidate Kim Seong-jin: "Must Be Chosen for Vision and Policies for Regional Development"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Kim Seong-jin, a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Gwangsan-gu Eul, Gwangju Metropolitan City from the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 31st regarding the Democratic Party’s Nomination Management Committee’s (hereafter Nomination Committee) decision to prohibit the use of the real names of former and incumbent presidents, “This decision reflects the Moon Jae-in administration’s philosophy that opportunities must be equal, processes fair, and outcomes just,” adding, “I will do my best to earn voters’ choice solely based on visions for regional development and job and economic policy pledges.”
Candidate Kim Seong-jin welcomed the Nomination Committee’s decision, saying, “If there is a significant difference in support rates depending on whether a candidate uses a specific title, then there is a problem.”
The Nomination Committee decided on the 29th not to use the real names of former and incumbent presidents such as Roh Moo-hyun and Moon Jae-in during the suitability survey for nominations.
Candidate Kim emphasized, “Politicians who only shout slogans with specific titles can never improve the lives of the people,” and “The politicians demanded by the times must have the vision and ability to make people’s lives richer and more prosperous.”
He continued, “In the current situation where the economy of the people and the country is in crisis due to corporate overseas relocation and job shrinkage, it is the most urgent way to save the country and the shortcut to regime re-creation to allow voters to judge capable candidates based on visions for regional development and policies to revive people’s livelihoods.”
