[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Lee Seong-hee, former head of the Seongnam Nakseong Agricultural Cooperative, was elected as the 24th President of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF) on the 31st. This is the first time a candidate from Gyeonggi Province has been elected as the NACF President.
Lee won 177 out of 293 total votes in the runoff election held at the NACF auditorium on Saemunan-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, defeating Yoo Nam-young, the current head of the Jeongeup Agricultural Cooperative, who received 116 votes. In the first round of voting, which featured 10 candidates, Lee secured 82 votes, placing first and advancing to the runoff. Yoo received 69 votes in the first round.

Immediately after his election, Lee stated, "I will also accept the pledges of other candidates to ensure that the NACF moves forward with integrity," adding, "I will devote myself fully to bringing the NACF closer to farmers and cooperative members."
