Na Kyung-won "Go Min-jeong and Lee Su-jin running? Not important... Election is a battle with myself"
[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] Ahead of the 21st general election, Na Kyung-won, a member of the Liberty Korea Party, commented on the speculation that former judge Lee Su-jin or former Blue House spokesperson Go Min-jung might run against her in her constituency Dongjak-e, saying, "I don't think it's an important factor."
On the 31st, Na appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "I think I just need to run my own campaign regardless of who comes. I have served for 2 years through the 19th by-election and 4 years in the 20th, so I believe the residents will make their judgment," she said.
She added, "No matter who comes, my attitude and strategy for the election will not change," and said, "Elections are about residents judging which candidates will reflect their opinions for regional development and work for the development of the Republic of Korea."
She continued, "Not only in my district but also in general, making elections into events or gossip seems disrespectful to the local residents," and emphasized, "Anyway, I think elections are a battle with myself, so it is important to show the people and residents what we can do and our vision for the future well."
Regarding the high support for the Democratic Party of Korea in various opinion polls, she said, "There are many hopeful talks within the party, but I think it is a tough situation," and added, "After about two years, I believe that checking the government will help it move in the right direction, but since President Moon Jae-in still has high support, the key is for parties or forces sharing the so-called anti-Moon Jae-in sentiment to unite and check the ruling party."
She also said, "Conservative unification is the unification of anti-Moon Jae-in forces," and added, "From former Bareun Mirae Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo to our Republic Party, I think it is right for all anti-Moon Jae-in forces to go together, but whether that takes the form of unification or alliance can vary."
Regarding Liberty Korea Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn's recent declaration to run in a difficult district, she said, "Since he said he would run in a difficult district, I think it is right to choose one of the Seoul areas and go," and added, "Besides facing off in Jongno, except for a very small part of Gangnam area, Seoul is considered a difficult district for our party."
