Seung-Hwan Seo Inaugurated as the 19th President of Yonsei University
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seos Seung-hwan (photo), the 19th president of Yonsei University, will officially take office on the 1st of next month. His term will last for four years until January 31, 2024.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia), events related to the inauguration ceremony have been omitted.
Born in 1956, the new president Seo graduated from Seoul High School and Yonsei University with a degree in Economics, and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University Graduate School in the United States.

He joined Yonsei University as a professor in the Department of Economics in 1987 and held administrative positions such as Director of Planning and Director of the International Campus Education Center. He also served as president of the Korean Association of Applied Economics and the Korean Regional Studies Association. From March 2013 to March 2015, he served as the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
