Nationwide Unsold Housing Units at 47,800... Six Consecutive Months of Decline Trend
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] As of the end of December last year, the number of unsold houses nationwide was recorded at 47,797 units, showing a 10.8% decrease compared to the previous month (53,561 units).
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 30th, the nationwide unsold houses have been decreasing for six consecutive months, recording 63,705 units in June last year, 62,385 units in August, 56,098 units in October, and 47,797 units in December.
Compared to the same month last year (58,838 units), the number of unsold houses as of December last year decreased by 18.8%.
The number of unsold houses after completion was recorded at a total of 18,065 units as of the end of December, a 7.8% decrease compared to the previous month (19,587 units).
By region, unsold houses in the metropolitan area were 6,202 units, a 25.4% decrease compared to the previous month (8,315 units), and in the provinces, 41,595 units, an 8.1% decrease compared to the previous month (45,246 units).
In the case of unsold houses in the provinces, the number has been decreasing for four consecutive months since recording 52,054 units in August last year.

By size, looking at the total unsold housing stock, unsold medium to large houses over 85㎡ were recorded at 3,833 units, a 13.5% decrease compared to the previous month (4,429 units). Houses 85㎡ or smaller decreased by 10.5% compared to the previous month (49,132 units), totaling 43,964 units.
