Gwangju Seo-gu 'Hyodream Allowance Support Project' Officially Launched
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 29th that it will officially implement the ‘Hyodream Allowance Support Project’ from this year to promote the culture of filial piety in the local community.
The Hyodream Allowance Support Project was established to encourage and foster the practice of ‘Hyo,’ a beautiful traditional cultural heritage, and to contribute to the development of a culture of filial piety in the local community by creating a social atmosphere that supports it.
For this support project, the district revised and promulgated the ‘Ordinance on Encouragement and Support of Filial Piety in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City’ in December last year.
Applicants must be households consisting of three or more generations caring for a filial piety recipient aged 80 or older, who have been registered residents in Seo-gu for more than two years and actually reside there.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the payment application form at the administrative welfare center of the applicant’s resident district and attaching related documents. A maximum of 300,000 KRW per year in cash will be provided.

A Seo-gu official said, “We hope that this support project will create a social atmosphere that encourages and practices Hyo, our traditional cultural heritage,” and added, “We expect the spread of filial piety culture to also help solve elderly issues in the aging society.”
