Daiso Launches 28 Collaborative Products with Emerging Illustration Artists

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Asung Daiso has unveiled the first results of its win-win collaboration project with emerging illustrators.
Daiso announced that it launched 28 products from the 'Design Collaboration Project' on the 29th, created in partnership with four illustrators including Yang Kyung-soo, known as 'Drawing King Yangchigi.'
This project was planned to provide product launch opportunities by discovering illustrators who have well-known characters but few chances to release products, as well as emerging artists with excellent design capabilities. The products are composed of a total of four themes, including stationery and fancy goods, office supplies, and living goods. They are sold at dedicated stands in the form of a curated shop.
The project involved illustrators such as Yang Kyung-soo ('Drawing King Yangchigi'), Lee Jae-ho ('Siho'), Kwon Na-young ('Nabong'), and Jo Ji-hee ('zzi'). They created designs inspired by everyday experiences encountered by office workers, parents, and the younger generation, evoking empathy.
Daiso actively reflected the opinions of the emerging artists in the project to allow them to showcase their talents. From the product planning stage, they worked together with the artists and selected products and set concepts through continuous consultations.
Daiso plans to conduct this project regularly every year, not as a one-time event, to directly discover and nurture promising illustrators and emerging product designers. In addition, a contest will be held for university students aspiring to become illustrators and product designers.
