[Photo] Geumcheon-gu Initiates Emergency Operations System in Response to Novel Coronavirus
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) formed a 'Local Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' at 9 a.m. on the 28th and entered a 24-hour emergency operation system to prepare for the spread of the novel coronavirus.
As the crisis alert level for the novel coronavirus was raised from 'Caution' to 'Warning,' the Local Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, led by Mayor Yuseonghun, was expanded and operated. A response situation room for the novel coronavirus infection was set up on the 4th floor of the public health center, maintaining a 24-hour work system.
The district installed a screening clinic on the 21st to conduct screening and testing for the novel coronavirus. Additionally, an emergency quarantine system was activated during the Lunar New Year holiday period, and emergency duty has been carried out.
Mayor Yuseonghun urged that in case of suspected infection symptoms, rapid testing and treatment should be conducted according to the manual to block infection within the region and protect residents' health.
Furthermore, he instructed to strengthen publicity on information related to Wuhan pneumonia and preventive and behavioral guidelines such as handwashing and cough etiquette in real-time connection with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Mayor Yuseonghun said, "We will do our best to minimize the anxiety of the residents," and requested, "Those with respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough should report to the Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center (1339) or Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center (2627-2640) before visiting medical institutions."
