Kim Sang-hoon: "Creating a Party-to-Party Council Causes Division... Civic Groups Participating in the Reform Committee Become Meaningless"
'Participation in Hyuktongwi' Korean Party's Kim Sang-hoon Officially Opposes Saebosu Party's Demand
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kim Hye-min] On the 20th, Assemblyman Kim Sang-hoon, participating as the Liberty Korea Party representative in the Innovation Integration Promotion Committee (혁통위), openly opposed the New Conservative Party's proposal for a 'party-to-party consultative body.'
Kim attended the 혁통위 meeting held at the National Assembly that morning and stated, "The 혁통위 should serve as the basic platform for discussions on integration."
He emphasized, "Regarding discussions between political parties, it is necessary for the involved parties to continue serious talks. However, relying on a formal body like a party-to-party consultative body will lead to division rather than integration." In response to Ha Tae-kyung, the New Conservative Party's responsible representative, who issued an ultimatum demanding the Liberty Korea Party's position by today, Kim said, "To conduct in-depth consultations, decision-makers will meet and narrow the gaps through dialogue," adding, "The final outcome should be achieved through the 혁통위."
After the meeting, Kim also criticized the New Conservative Party's statement that integration would be difficult if the 'party-to-party consultative body' was not established. He argued, "It is important to have substantive dialogue rather than organizing a party-to-party consultative body. Some have already been engaging in such dialogue," and warned, "If the party-to-party integration consultative body is formalized, it could undermine the intentions of the civic group representatives participating in the 혁통위."
Lee Eon-ju, leader of the 'Forward to the Future Party 4.0,' also participating in the 혁통위, said, "Many citizens have suffered under the Moon Jae-in administration for nearly two and a half to three years. Those who fought on the anti-Moon Jae-in front should join forces with the forces leading the 혁통위," emphasizing, "After integration, when citizens look at the new party's lineup, they should feel that the power of dedication has been united."
Assemblyman Jung Woon-cheon of the New Conservative Party, who also attended the meeting, added, "Lunar New Year is just five days away. We must do our utmost to bring about conservative grand integration by this Lunar New Year holiday." Regarding Assemblyman Ji Sang-wook's announcement of his resignation from the 혁통위, he said, "He resigned because demands such as Chairman Park Hyung-joon's resignation were not well received," and reaffirmed his commitment to participate in the 혁통위 by stating, "We will elect another member through the meeting to attend."

Meanwhile, Kim Geun-sik, a 혁통위 member who was once close to former Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo, said, "It seems former leader Ahn is expecting a 'Season 2' of the People's Party from four years ago, but in 2020 South Korea, that is neither possible, desirable, nor right," urging, "If former leader Ahn agrees to stop the Moon Jae-in administration's reckless actions, I earnestly ask him to join the opposition integration."
