[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 20th that it will provide customized welfare services for the Lunar New Year holiday.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, the city will check in twice by phone and visits with 29,600 elderly people living alone. Street homeless protection facilities will operate 24 hours a day, and free meals will be provided for four days during the holiday period.
By the 31st, about 600 households will receive support such as rice, tteokguk rice cakes, and sagol gomtang (beef bone soup) using the Hope Wagon vehicle, and support for inspection, repair, and replacement of aging boilers will be provided until the 29th of next month.
For visitors paying respects at graves, free shuttle buses will operate to and from municipal cemeteries, and temporary restrooms and ritual altars will be installed.
