[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] President Moon Jae-in on the 19th expressed, regarding the avalanche accident in Annapurna, Nepal Himalayas, "I earnestly pray together with the people for the swift rescue of the missing teachers and local guides."
President Moon said through his Facebook on the same day, "With the Lunar New Year holiday just a week away, I am deeply distressed thinking of the missing persons and their families who are fighting for their lives at the brink of life and death."
On the 17th (local time), an avalanche struck the Deurali area (altitude 3,230m) of the Annapurna trekking course, causing four teachers affiliated with the Chungnam Office of Education and two Nepali guides to go missing.
President Moon promised, "Until the moment the accident recovery is completed, we will closely cooperate with the Nepalese government and do our best in search and rescue," and added, "We will also make every effort to provide funeral support to the families of the missing."
