[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seongdong-gu Intermediate Support Organization Council, which connects residents and the government, held the "Better Seongdong Intermediate Support Organization Council New Year Book Talk" on the 14th to welcome the Year of the Rat.
The Seongdong-gu Intermediate Support Organization Council was first established in Seoul last September to activate communication between private organizations and to create a sustainable environment for public-private cooperation.
Based on local community organizations such as the Seongdong-gu Volunteer Center and the Seongdong-gu Social Economy Support Center, seven private consignment institutions within the region, along with two administrative organizations?the Seongdong-gu Citizen-Government Cooperation Promotion Team and the Planning and Budget Department?participated together.
The council holds regular monthly meetings to share information, promote collaboration across sectors, and coordinate overlapping projects, striving to build a communication and cooperation system that continuously activates public-private cooperation.
The New Year Book Talk held that day was organized to share the council’s vision and goals for the new year. About 50 people, including Seongdong-gu Mayor Jung Won-oh, representatives and members of the seven organizations belonging to the Intermediate Support Organization Council, participated in a book talk on the communication book "Thinking, Fast and Slow," exploring the direction and role the intermediate support organizations should take.
Additionally, a Q&A session and tea gathering were arranged to encourage active networking and exchange among participating organizations, providing a meaningful time to share the importance of communication and collaboration between private organizations and between private and public sectors.

Seongdong-gu Mayor Jung Won-oh said, “To prepare better policies, it is necessary to have a bottom-up decision-making process that collects and proposes diverse demands and opinions from the public, rather than unilateral policy decisions from the government. In this regard, the role of intermediate support organizations, which act as a bridge between residents and administration, is very important. I expect these organizations, which best understand residents’ demands and difficulties, to gather and propose various policies. Going forward, the district office will also actively strive to enhance communication and coexistence between residents and administration.”
