Moscow, Russia Experiences 'Warmest Winter in 140 Years'
[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Kiho] Moscow, the capital of Russia, is experiencing the warmest winter in 140 years due to abnormal temperatures.
According to Moscow meteorological authorities, on the evening of the 16th (local time), the temperature in Moscow reached 3.2 degrees Celsius, the highest for this date since weather observations began 140 years ago, local media reported.
The meteorological authorities stated, "The daytime temperature on the 16th remained around 3 degrees Celsius, but by around 10 PM it rose to 3.2 degrees," adding, "The highest temperature recorded in Moscow on January 16th until now was 3.1 degrees in 1925."

The meteorological authorities introduced that the average temperature in Moscow this year is 8.7 degrees higher compared to previous years, and if calculated from last December when winter began, it is 7.4 degrees higher.
