Hwasun-gun Selected for Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Smart River Management System Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 17th that it has recently been selected as a pilot project site for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'National River Smart River Management System Construction Project.'
The county will receive full government funding of 1.8 billion KRW for the system construction and maintenance budget.
Until now, the 17 drainage facilities installed along Jiseokcheon Stream have been operated by nearby residents such as village chiefs, who manually or electrically controlled them on-site.
There were issues in managing the drainage facilities, including the aging of gatekeepers, lack of expertise, unclear responsibility for damages, and insufficient rapid response during typhoons and heavy rainfall.
Through this project, the county plans to establish a comprehensive control room, automated gate facilities, CCTV and automatic water level gauges, and communication links between the gates and the control room.
Additionally, by building the smart river management system, the 17 drainage facilities will be remotely controlled, enabling swift gate operation.
