View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The Democratic Party of Korea has recruited global economic expert Choi Ji-eun (39) as the 9th candidate for the general election.
At a welcoming ceremony held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 16th, the Democratic Party's Talent Recruitment Committee explained the reason for her recruitment, stating, "Choi is the first Korean to be hired as a full-time economist at the African Development Bank (AfDB), and was later recruited by the World Bank," adding, "She is a global economic expert with both theoretical and practical experience."
Born in Busan, Choi graduated from Sogang University with a degree in Economics in 2003, earned a master's degree in Public Administration and International Development from Harvard Kennedy School, and obtained a Ph.D. in International Development from the University of Oxford. She has since worked at Samsung Electronics' Information and Communication Network Business Division, served as a senior economist at the African Development Bank, and is currently a senior economist at the World Bank.
At the party admission ceremony, Choi expressed her aspirations, saying, "I feel the need to contribute to a stronger homeland in the international economic system," and "I want to work on increasing the productivity of the Republic of Korea."

Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party, said, "Choi has played a significant role in supporting economic development policies and creating systems in several challenging countries," and added, "The party will do its utmost to develop global economic policies well."
