Sim Jae-cheol "Party leaders, please run in challenging districts in the metropolitan area"... Seemingly targeting Hong Jun-pyo and Kim Tae-ho
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Shim Jae-cheol, floor leader of the Liberty Korea Party, requested on the 12th, "I ask that party leaders come out to the challenging constituencies in the metropolitan area," adding, "If the leaders unite in the metropolitan area to form the 'Hangang Belt,' only then can a tsunami occur."
Shim, whose constituency is Dongan-gu Eul in Anyang City, Gyeonggi Province, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and said, "Compared to the hometown region of Yeongnam, the metropolitan area will be relatively more difficult."
This remark appears to be aimed at leader-level figures such as former party leader Hong Joon-pyo and former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Tae-ho, who intend to run in their hometown region of Yeongnam.
Shim emphasized, "If one settles in their hometown, the political horizon will probably close," and added, "If one chooses the metropolitan area for the party and the Republic of Korea, the spirit of self-sacrifice will move the people." He continued, "If all the leaders gather in the metropolitan area, a massive tsunami will occur," and requested, "Please act in a grand manner befitting a leader."
Shim also stressed the importance of unity for election victory. He said, "Whether we cross the river of impeachment or not is currently meaningless," and added, "Now is the time to focus on the future of winning the election rather than past differences. Saying that one's position was right is pointless at this moment."
Regarding the New Conservative Party's willingness to relinquish nomination rights if the 'Three Principles for Conservative Reconstruction' are upheld, he said, "It is a very desirable attitude," and added, "The view that the leadership exercises nomination rights can be seen as ignoring the voters, the people, and whether one survives will be wisely judged by the people."

Meanwhile, concerning the Central Election Commission's decision on the 13th about allowing the name 'Proportional Liberty Korea Party,' he warned, "Since Cho Hae-joo was appointed as an election commissioner, there have been concerns about the neutrality of the commission," and said, "To avoid suspicion of neutrality, this must be proven at tomorrow's meeting. If disallowed, it will be an act of serving the regime."
