As of 5:55 PM local time, President Tsai has received 3,634,900 votes (57.6%), while her competitor, Kuomintang (KMT) Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu, has received 2,400,600 votes (38%). The vote difference between the two candidates has widened to over 1 million votes.

Voting took place from 8 AM to 4 PM, and the Taiwan Election Commission predicted that the counting would be completed around 10 PM that night, allowing the election results to be announced.
